On Monday, the first batch of limited edition and other prints is heading out of their dim, inky womb and into your warm embraces. You have until Sunday night to get your orders in. The next rounds will ship out on the 5th, 12, the 19th and once more some time after the 26th, and then that’s all folks. Everything you see in the shop now will go away on December 31st to make room. Small bursts of art, merch, …

Crisp autumn weather is perfect for almost everything. Reading, writing, making art, movie nights… Unfortunately, the chill can also lead to a variety of ailments. Between copious amounts of vitamins, hot ginger-honey tea and rest many of them can be warded off, but nothing weaves the health magic like Magic Soup. Over the past few days I’ve spent my time crawling from bed to couch, unable to even console myself with books because of daily migraines – a sad state …

As 2011 nears its conclusion and the Biorequiem shop empties in preparation for 2012, I’m thinking of various changes and improvements to the way this site works. [Image source] You may have noticed that I’m slowing my blogging roll to focus on art. Though I will continue to post articles as time allows, I also plan to increase my creative output. This could mean stuff like little flash sales just for dedicated readers, last-minute announcements and other news – which …

It’s been one hell of a year, folks, and I’m rolling out the goods to see it off in style. As such, in addition to the phenomenal offer below, I’ll be clearing the Biorequiem shop of everything you see there now at the end of the year. This means that if you’ve been putting off ordering any of these items, the clock is officially ticking. Out with the old and all that. Now, without further ado: Starting now and until …

I took time off painting this week to let the oil dry and to work on tattoo commissions. This one is for a patient, lovely Canadian who first contacted me well over a year ago, but was lost in the email abyss. She initially wanted something heavily biomechanical yet feminine. When I began to draw though, inspiration kept shoving me back to the minimalicious autoreids in Ergo Proxy and the iconic cyborgs in Bjork’s All is Full of Love video. Fortunately, …

Good morning, mein lieblings! I’m proud to present Half-light Beach – a very dreamy editorial I shot on Malibu sand this fall with Lydia Hudgens and Stephanie Inagaki. This might actually be my new favorite photo-shoot of all time. It’s live today exclusively on Haute Macabre, along with some very good news for those who have been coveting the GHST RDR mini-collection: That’s right, folks! For a very limited time you can get up to 20% off the collection, in …

A few shots of my current workstation, which happens to be the kitchen table + dropcloth. We do have a workroom, but the light in here is better, plus – movies! I’m in the process of painting two pieces for Chet Zar’s “Conjoined” show, opening January 21st at Copro Nason gallery, and they’re decidedly NSFW. I’ll reveal the full pieces when they’re done, and will be posting progress shots throughout the process. This here is a glimpse of a mutating …

Good mooorning! HUGE news today, mein peeps: Coilhouse Issue SixSixSix is finally here and available for purchase while our limited supplies last. Join the black and white and red parade as we march through an angular Constructivist/Futurist/Expressionist landscape where originality and oddity rule. There are (literally) sharp and edgy fashion editorials; there’s a never-before-published Bauhuas-era play; there are origami revelations. You’ll view tons of exclusive, made-just-for-the-magazine content contributed …

I wonder how many of you get a little wistful after Halloween. TV networks stop re-running vintage horror flicks, pumpkins disappear from stoops and seeing ghosts on every other street corner becomes a rarity once again. This year I’m just going to keep the spooky-time spirit alive and bask in scary movies, pumpkin spiced coffee and candlelight all winter long, while I hole up making new artstuffs. Not that it’s really winter here, but you know what I mean. Last week, I …

A recent client had his commissioned design inked and sent me a few shots of the process. I’m told this is almost finished, with one more session to go. If you’re interested in commissioning an original tattoo design, email me with your idea for a quote!

On Saturday, I spooked it up at the annual Dia de los Muertos festivities at the Hollywood Forever cemetery. Been going for years and it remains my favorite Halloween-time activity. The cemetery itself is massive, gorgeous, and home to the likes of Rudolf Valentino as well as weekend film screenings in the summer. The Day of the Dead party is by far the liveliest and most crowded of the events held here, though – with hundreds of altars, a procession, lots …

Besides teaching the art workshop, part of my Peru mission was to create a mural at the Yantaló school. Between time constrains, missing paint and enormous, fume-loving flying ants, this was no easy task! The paint had to be acquired in Lima, before my arrival, by a rep from the Yantaló Peru Foundation, and not everything was available. We scoured the hospital construction site for a primer, walking away with several cans of what turned out to be completely solidified, …

I’ve been back from Peru for just over two weeks, plunging into playing hostess to an important house guest immediately upon my return. Between all the D4RT prep, the epic journey itself and family obligations that followed, it was as good a time as any to put some distance between myself and the internet, plugging in mostly to keep up with current events and reference-hunt for articles. I can’t say that I’m back now – I’m still working out the …

Good morning, universe. In just four short days I’ll be cramming my cargo into a little rocket and zooming off to Yantaló. The pile of books and supplies at my front door has gone from this: …to this: On Monday, I’ll do my best to post photos of the contents. it’s time for some serious suitcase Tetris! And maybe more prickly pear juice. LA is filled with all manner of cactus and this fruit is fairly easy to find in parks …
