Saturday began with me admiring freshly-packaged stacks of Spacefriends.
Cunch and I spent an entire day hand-packing these bad babies, so a degree of gloating was befitting.
After the sticker revelry, A, Daniel, Sonya the dog and I drove out to Malibu for a picnic-n-hike adventure. I’d just had another mortality crisis, so physical activity and getting in close touch with the universe was more than necessary.
There was salmon.
There was also caramel and sea salt chocolate, home-made guacamole, berries and lobster sushi.
Sparkle-Daniel.
These strange, towering flowers were sparsely scattered across the hillside.
At the beginning of he hike I’d said that the perfect landscape could only be improved by a Bambi or two. The landscape apparently agreed.
Floating knee says hello.
Pelicans.
Car slog.
Topping the perfect day with ramen? Necessary.
I believe those are flowering yucca. I recently drove through New Mexico/Colorado and they were in bloom covering vast area.
Google says yes! I had no idea they were beautiful as well as delicious – thanks!
that chocolate bar from trader joes is the business! you don’t know how many times I have to stop myself from throwing it in my cart cause I know I will devour it in one day.
Hee! I love that you matched your eyebrows to your bra.
Ivonne, I just… do it.
Alicia – I love that you noticed!
Lovely pictures! It looks beautiful!
Can I ask you what your process for packing food for trips like this is, and what tips you have? Lobster Sushi…salmon….oh my! I’m going to be going to a festival this summer, and I’ll be at the festivasl grounds for about 16 hours daily for two days. I have a lot of allergies (Dairy and Gluten being the big ones I have to worry about, so nearly all festival food is out of the question) so I need to be able to bring my own food but I have no idea how to go about actually bringing something healthy/tasty. I would really appreciate any advice!
Yeaaaa… mortality crises. I was the one who asked you how you deal with them, except I accidentally said “morality.” Hah. I’ve been doing some art about it lately and it seems to be helping some.
First, let me say your turquoise eyebrows look awesome.
Then, why the crisis? This makes me sad and I’d like to send out some chocolate to confort you! Please send your postal box or address!
Cheers,
J
That Daniel is a handsome fellow.
Howdy Zoe…beautiful pictures as always.
First, do you have any advice on good hiking places in Southern California…preferably by the beach..like this one? We are always looking for a good place to hike and even picnic.
Second, do you have any recipes on hand for a great ramen soup? My son is obsessed with it…but I can only take him to the ramen hut down the street and I would rather make it at home for him…I can always do my research on the net but if you have one in particular..I appreciate your taste. I tried your russian soup and your smoothie and both I really liked. My favorites posts are those that include food LOL =\
