Next week, I’ll be launching a Kickstarter campaign for D4RT.
D4RT is a mobile art class that brings workshops and public art projects to impoverished communities all over the world, with its first installment to take place in September of 2011 in Yantaló.
Yantaló is a village with a population of less than 3,000, nestled in the Peruvian Amazon jungle. I’ll tell you more about how I came to love this place and more about D4RT in my video, currently in post-production.
I’m developing a program which I’m immensely excited about – a lesson plan aimed at engaging kids’ curiosity and centered around fantasy, starting with several days of varied exercises and ending with me and my class working together on a very special final project.
We don’t have an exact Kickstarter launch date just yet, so stay tuned!
Hi,
Are you one of the founders of D4RT? I’m interested in getting in touch with the programme directors to see if I can start something in Japan.
I’m currently living in Tokyo and have been trying to find a way to contribute to the rebuilding of Tohoku region. PTSD is understandably a rising issue amongst the affected children there and I’ve been wanting to do something to help out with that. While I’m not skilled enough as an artist to teach a class, I’m interested in seeking out a suitable artist + help with the fundraising to start a similar project in the region.
Sounds brilliant! Can’t wait to hear and see more!
Reading this post gives me such warm and kind feelings. I mean it’s so wonderful what You’re gonna do. Developing that program for kids – that’s… just amazing. Really.
Brilliant! I can’t wait to promote the hell out of your video when it comes out.
this is just too great!
So exciting! I’m really on tenterhooks–can’t wait to see the whole video!
Been looking forward to this ever since you first mentioned it. Great idea, and I’m sure it’ll be an amazing experience for everyone involved. The photos look lovely, too. :)
I am doing something similar in the Philippines with underprivileged youth, if you have a minute check it out: http://www.dreamlovegrow.com – I would love to share your video when it’s done. I’ll be going back this year to do more missions.
I admire this and if you ever need help or need another artist, please feel free to contact me :) Good job! Love and happiness.
Excellent. I look forward to backing.
I’m looking forward to seeing the full video and Kickstarter page. Also, I too would be interested in volunteering to help out with the project in any way possible.
This is totally awesome.
I’m so there.
What a wonderful idea, can’t wait to see. x
