We have arrived. More or less. There are still some things to be put into storage or brought here at the old apartment, but the Big Scary U-haul Move is over and done.
Last night, after many hours of boxing, moving, stairs and sweat, we laid our mattress on the floor, covered our new windows with blankets and celebrated with Frighteners, Mexican Coke, Champagne and raspberry-filled chocolate. We only made it through 30 minutes of the movie, but it matters not. We’re home.
It’s all an unmarked box maze for now, but today is going to be the first day of rest since we decided to move. I’d be shocked to find a single muscle in my body that isn’t tired and screaming. So today, we’ll venture out for groceries and I may try to locate my toiletries and underwear, but there will be no major unpacking until tomorrow.
We couldn’t have made the move without the help of our awesome friends, so big, squishy THANK YOUS go out to Ginny, Kevin The Intrepid U-haul master, Gretta, Matt, Courtney, Katie, Annah, Josh, Daniel, Chris, Jhonen, and Q. You’re all amazing and I’m looking forward to inviting you to our first BBQ deck soiree.
We’re thrilled about exploring the new neighborhood and Micron is thrilled about making friends with our landlord’s border collie, but for now the empty fridge demands fulfillment, so I take my leave.
Congratulations Zo! The place looks gorgeous despite the jumbliness, I hope you have a lovely time there.
Nothing says “A nerd lives here” more than moving using Diamond boxes… :-)
Rick – oh hell yes! And the rest of our boxes are from Sideshow Collectibles.
Nina, thank you! It’s wonderful so far, but we’re far too wiped out to even think about unpacking just yet.
Congrats, Zo! It looks fabulous.
Congrats!
Why unpack? I say stack the boxes in Tetris shapes and live in and amongst those magical shapes.
Quite the workload but again, congrats on the move.
Congrats! Moving is so exhausting but once you’re finally in a place that you actually love, it’s definitely worth it. :) And haha I noticed the Diamond boxes too, epic win.
Congrats on the big move! Again, so jealous! I love the colors you picked out, it will become your new lair in no time.
YAY!
Super congrats on the move-in!
home is where the Apple is.
happy happy nestage! :)
congrats on the new homestead! :)
also, i’m glad to see someone else that appreciates the difference between HFCS Coke (ie. crappy American Coke) and sweet sweet cane sugar Coke (ie. Mexican Coke). i specifically bring Canadian Coke home with me when i’m visiting my family. i’m not sure that it’s precisely cane sugar used in Canada’s Coke, but it definitely has a different recipe (as evidenced by a different calorie content), and I much prefer it to the corn syrup-ridden American version.
