This weekend I took part in a mini slumber party at the Castle.
Lumi, MarZ and I listened to our old companion Sol Invictus, drank mango margaritas and pored over the Codex Seraphinianus in bed.
I’m convinced this needs to become a tradition and am willing to host the next one.
There are several reasons I prefer drinking Tequila when I do drink. One is the almost fevered energy levels the morning after. We woke just in time to watch the sun rise and bathe the room in fire for a few moments.
Wow…Codex Seraphinianus is now a big, big, BIG must-read for me now…that, and I’m aching for the days of yore when sleepovers happened every weekend, without fail…
I’d seen scans online before but actually holding the enormous tome was an incredible experience. The amount of work and imagination that went into this book is mind-boggling. You’ll love it.
I understand that ready margarita mix is for convinience but still… Fresh ingredients are always big win. :)
Despite that sounds like very nice slumber party, maybe I should host one to my friends too, haven’t done those in a while.
Hello Zoetica. Although I observed your frequently appearances at the Warren Ellis blog I have never actually fumbled through your blog before (shame on me, I know). Today after some net surfing I ended up here and saw this post about your slumber party and followed the link to the Sol Invictus album. It has been so long since the last time that I listened to neoclassical music that I didn’t even knew how much I missed it. The album instantly took me back to my hyperomantic, angst filled, fog and rainy teenage days. It was nice to look back at the goth and skinny boy that I used to be (although I’m still skinny, just no much of a goth any more). Thanks for the indirect walk that you helped me take down the memory lane. It was a nice walk. I know now why Ellis seems to love you so.
PS – Pardon me if I misspelled anything, english is not my first language.
Since I saw your post about the slumber party around a week ago I’ve been listening to the Sol Invictus albums nonstop. I fell in love with their songs. Since you seem to like classical and neoclassic music and as a way to express my gratitude to you I thought about pointing you to the work of my favorite contemporary composer Wim Mertens. I think that you probably know him already but if you don’t you can find his myspace page here: http://www.myspace.com/wimmertensmusic
I suggest you to listen to Struggle for pleasure, Close over, Iris and Often a bird. Hope you enjoy it.
Changing topics, I don’t want to sound like your mother – although she seems to be a lovely woman – but it is not good to your health to have so little sleep as you say. For one thing, if you can’t sleep you can’t dream either. So go and try to get some dreams ok?
And in a final note: black is beautiful. I love your new hair.
