Ginny took this of me at the ranch shoot on Saturday. Before that I took this one of her.
I received something wonderful in the mail tonight: a worn book of gypsy folklore, with three riddles between the pages. Physical mail is one of my absolute favorites. It’s selfish – I almost never ever have time to reciprocate, but I love it all the same. So thank you.
Ah, yes, nothing like a nice roll in the…uh…leaves.
I find myself being just the opposite about mail surprises–that is, I feel so romantic sending strange and thoughtful things to people in the mail that I can’t hold back, but sooner or later I have to admit that I’ll rarely get such mail myself. But then, I guess that helps preserve the sanctity of the awesome mailed-objects that I DO receive.
When I do mail things, I put a lot of thought into the packages.. But I’m sad to admit it’s been a long, long time. Pending change, one can hope.
is that top from Shrine?
It’s a very long dress, but yes!
That’s a great shot.
I also love actua-mail. There’s nothing more exciting to me then getting mail that isn’t from the bank, and having something there that a human dedicated thought and genuine attention to.. Well, perhaps it’s odd that it became something special, but it is.
Our generation is one of accelerated culture. We don’t write, we blog, and we don’t even blog anymore, we tweet. Email has been replaced by IM by anyone under 18, and hardly anyone calls me on the phone if they can text message me their intention all the same.
I look at the yellowing paper my late grandfather wrote love letters to my grandmother on and wonder if we’ll ever have anything like that again.
Shay, you should email me your address. I’ve gotten mail from you and when I inevitably go on a send mail kick I want to make sure you get something from me.
And yes.. I am in complete agreement with you. Communication is becoming extinct.
Will do..!
