A few weeks ago I was asked to create a custom, detailed, feminine take on the Heartless symbol from the Kingdom Hearts video game (click here to see what the original looks like). I took inspiration from medieval etchings of crests for this project, so the research was fun, especially when I came across the occasional griffin or unicorn hidden in swirling filigree. The inspiration was purely visual, though, as actual crests usually include banners, mottos and other specifics. My finished piece:
Looking forward to seeing this one on skin!
Ohhh, love it. I played the game some years ago, and your version looks really really nice. They should make a whole game with similar graphics…I’d love to play through something like that. (Just like I loved Okami…so pretty.)
This is beautiful and it has a unique look, it will look great on skin, I found you through FB Sugarpill, you have amazing talent and wanted to know how a person goes about commissioning something like this from you?
This is gorgeous. I love your line art.
Barbara, thanks! I wonder what that version of the game would look like.
Ivy, welcome and thank you — just email me with your idea to talk about your design and to get a quote.
Zellain, thank you! Glad you like it.
As a huge (silent, lurking type) fan of your various artistic endeavors, this is really astounding for me. How do you feel about people other than the commissioner having your work tattooed on them?
oh wow, somebody linked me this, and it’s amazing. I like the shading detail~
^^ I look forward admiring more of your artwork!
Hey, shoot me an email if you get a chance. I would like to talk about getting your permission to use this in a way other than a tattoo.
