First and foremost: Coilhouse Issue 2 is now available! I can’t begin to tell you how proud we are of this one.
We’re delighted to present Margaret Cho, Andy Ristaino, Stephen Kasner and that’s just the tip of the iceberg, baby. Lush, glossy on the inside and matte on the outside, this sexy beast is overflowing with interviews, articles, art and photography. There are all new color illustrations by your truly, paper dolls by Molly Crabapple, a fashion adventure with my dear Lumi, a fold-out treasure map, and so much more.
It’s dark, it’s gorgeous, it has the past and the future – in short, it’s everything we could have dreamed of, all in one issue. Read more about Coilhouse 2 and buy it, here.

Operation “Escape from LA” was a success. Overdue visits, delicious food and mulled wine are good reminders of what it means to slow down for a little while. Sometimes I forget. Now I am re-charged and back to ink, keys, sleeplessness and various undertakings. Zobot, activate!
Photo-documentation can be found here, and a few favorites below the jump. Clickity click.
My favorite aspect of the excursion was a visit to the ruins of Sutro Baths on a perfectly gray afternoon.
reminds me that i should be looking at ways of heading up there sometime soon. it has been entirely too long.
You were in SF?? I’m bummed I didn’t know. I would have brought out the giant bubble kit, which is always fabulous on the beach…6′ bubbles anyone? Next time…
That beach pic reminds me of one of mine from Iceland:

Can’t escape the feeling of cold sand between my toes – yet being thankful I’m not sporting a Tippi Hedren hairdo – and at the same time being squinchly amused by the last kiss, like a young boy in grade school not yet cognizant of contact beyond my own shell — and still – there’s those damned birds.
I dunno if this is weird or not-you were in my dream last night. you and a few other people were running around my backyard. It was very strange :3
Q, you could use a vacation. Do it!
KC, it was a secret getaway, almost no one knew. And that photo is beautiful – I’ve been dying to go to Iceland.
Robbo, the Tippy look might suit you – you never know until you try!
Sarah, it’s only creepy is we were naked… Were we?
My apologies if my last post was a little too self-centric – it wasn’t meant to be. I rather like the similarities in our photos, that’s all. As for Iceland – you MUST go. It’s one of the few places I’ve been where the reality is better than what I imagined. Now is a good time, too, as the exchange rate is much better than when I was there ($9 cans of beer are now $4). If you *do* decide to go, lemme know – I can give you some good tips on travel there…
