Alive after a whirlwind photo-adventure in Arizona. I have a Biorequiem To-Do list which includes shop updates, a new Style Dispatch post featuring my cape, and a very special eyebrow tutorial for Blush Response. Unfortunately, I’ve been stricken with a brutal migraine/fever combo which has me in aggressive recovery mode until the weekend. And what a magnificent weekend it should be! I’m especially looking forward to introducing Ales to the Dia De Los Muertos festivities at the Hollywood Forever cemetery, but there is also a birthday and an art thing and my friend/former roommate Vee is coming for a little visit. I’ve been guzzling alarming amounts of mint tea with lime and honey in preparation.
Back to Arizona! My friend Natalia kindly shipped my camera and I out for a few days of fun and photos. This is Natalia and Sean’s view:
They live on the 10th floor of a gigantic 1950s high-rise in central Phoenix. This was morning.
Testing my camera before a shoot.
Epic salsa verde made from scratch by Natalia’s uncle.
Equally epic taquitos, filled with mushrooms and mashed potatoes. I’m determined to make these at home, somehow.
Wiiiii.
My favorite gray nail polish, night time, and a glass of my new favorite wine.
Mff.
Back in LA, right after another shoot downtown on Tuesday.
Wednesday’s shoot. I believe my pants were very wet by the time this photo was taken – a side effect of shooting someone in the shower. To be expected.
On a bridge, by Lou O’Bedlam
Susan, a German fan, got a tattoo of my drawing,”Up Here, We Breathe What We Can“! This photo is from the first session.
And I’m spent. Time to bleach my roots, send for another bucket of tea, and settle in for another episode of Mad Men. Until the near future!
your hair is growing so fast. they look great.
tattoo – super. do more posts with photos, pleaseeeeee)
xx
Thank you, Dara! More photos as time allows, of course :)
Great pics!! I need a good camera ;o) Oh, and a tequito recipe would be great too, they sound delicious!
These are really great!! And the taquitos look
really good I must say. I want to try that out too!
The tattoo is lovely as well! I’m going to hollywood
forever for the first time also. Looking forward
to it ;)
Hey, your work is really awesome. I really like “Up Here, We Breathe What We Can.”
Very nice :)
Kim and Deadzie – I’ll try to make these taquitos from memory and if they’re successful I’ll write about it and share the recipe!
Julia, thank you!
I just moved here to Florida from Phoenix. It’s only been a few months, and looking at those photos made me miss it for the first time since I moved.
Zo!
Those taquitos look delish. My mother makes amazing taquitos, and I am especially fond her weenie and tuna taquitos since they remind me of my childhood. If you’re interested, my mother makes the best chicken soft tacos with the most amazing salsa everrr (note the emphasis). Let me know if you’re interested in a recipe ;)
the weather in phoenix is lovely right now. is that the view from the embassy?
How I WISH I could hit up some Dia De Los Muertos Festivities, my gosh. Dia De Los Muertos takes place on my birthday, generally, eeee, so it’s one of my favourite things ever. I totally want to make a alter this year, if I remember/stop being lazy.
I also can’t wait to hear what you have to say about eyebrows…And I really hope those taquitos work out, as I’d totally want a recipe!
I’ve got dark blue hair at the moment, but it fades to teal blue rather quickly. I was wondering what brand dye you use. Thanks (and your photos are lovely!)
Wow, your glasses are really spectacular! Who makes them?
