Here’s one more of Amanda to go with all those shots from yesterday, and to lead you into the weekend. Make it count.
I don’t have as much time for link-sharing as I would like, but here is a small selection of mostly unrelated things I’ve looked at over the past few days. Satoshi Kon, the brilliant creator of Paranoia Agent and Milennium Actress, died two weeks ago. He left behind a rambling, but interesting letter, shedding some light on his last days. The letter’s been translated from Japanese and is online, for now. All sorts of stuff is going on over at …
I’ve been holding on to all of these since early August. All shot on the same day, in the same park, with the same camera. The fairytale pretty much weaves itself when I look at these, you might find it doing the same for you. Models, in order of appearance: Stepho, Amanda, Katie, Catelin.
Amethyst house’s finally coming together! I know, because we’re actually hanging art. Just now, between packaging prints and roasting more beets [I’m unstoppable], I finally mounted Matt Levin‘s Abject Horror [nice birthday gift, yes?]above the door leading to the office/workroom. He both warns of what lies beyond and protects against eeeevil. I think he may still have a couple left, so contact him if you want one.
Less than two years ago I said “I like to cook but don’t really do it”, and now I’m a motherfuckin kitchen master. OK, maybe not quite a master, but I do cook all the time, and love discovering new recipes. Mmmf is my favorite term for something amazingly delicious, thus it is the title of favorite culinary stuffs I post here from now on. Bon appettit! To start, here’s a ridiculously simple step-by-step to lead you to orangy, beety …
Today is for taking it easy, wrapping up recent print orders, and tidying the house after the three-day weekend. Labor Day weekend is usually an eerily quiet time here, as everyone’s out of town to catch the last bits of summer, or to commune with the desert spirits at Burning Man. We decided to spend yesterday’s holiday wandering around downtown LA, enjoying the vacant streets and breezy afternoon sunshine, thus stripping ourselves of even more goth points than usual. Alas. …
Finally, a moment to wade through the hundreds of San Francisco photos. I managed to get this round down to under 100, but it must stop here. It’s been over an hour! I’ve hand-picked a few favorites for the post, and the rest are under the jump in a gallery. To navigate, click an image and then use the bar at the bottom of the window. To start off, here is a photo strip from a booth at the Musee …
Photo by A Fact: I love getting Thank You notes. The Turquoise Tart tip-toed over my threshold just a day or so past, looking very demure in her mailing envelope. Once freed though, she was revealed to be a sparkling creature still shimmering from her seraglio (or so it seemed), & i swear she winked. Just once. It’s a lovely print, thank you so much. Fact: I almost never have time to write them, so here is a a big, …
To quote the late, great Michael Jackson: this is it. Today at midnight PST, Turquoise Tart, the “Infect” section header for Coilhouse Issue 05, goes away from the shop forever after being available for thirty days. Click here to go to get it now, or live in regret indefinitely.
Last week, on the day I was leaving for San Francisco, photographer Lydia Hudgens reached out to me about shooting one of my Style Dispatches. Though my bags were already packed, I’d literally just seen and dug her photos of my friend Gala, so I agreed. Which reminds me! Photographers: if you’re in LA and want to shoot one of these installments, email me. I’d forgotten how fun it is not shooting them myself. In a way, I preferred it …
Just a quick reminder that Turquoise Tart, the “Infect” section header for Coilhouse Issue 05, disappears from the shop in six days. Click here to go to get it now! And while we’re all here, a preview from the shoot with Lydia Hudgens I squeezed in between raping and pillaging San Francisco: John Fluevog witch shoes Holy leggings Nylon dress Bag by Junior Drake Clear eyeglass frames More to come!
Packing my little suitcase and heading to San Francisco for a few days. If you know of awesome places or events I should be attending, do let a sistah know. The other night, after dancing for a while Also, was just sent this and had to document it, before the murdering begins:
Yesterday, I looked in the mirror and KNEW. The hair, it had to go. The color, too. The cut took about 45 minutes, the color [or lack there of] about an hour and half. It’s still not done – I didn’t want to burn my scalp, so the back is baby chick yellow for now, but it’s close. I used cheap-o clippers, which I had to take apart and put back together halfway through the process, on the sides and …
When you get together with out-of-town friends, it best be memorable. This is precisely why I decided to join my usually remote comrades Gala, Nubby, Amy, Kevin, and Danielle at Disneyland. It had been years since my previous visit, so I really wasn’t sure what to expect. I knew there would be rides and crowds, but would I still have fun after the initial shock of colors and people wore off? I took a billion photos [we all did, naturally] …
