Flew Virgin America for the first time, which was very pretty and slick. Sadly, the seats didn’t recline nearly far enough for an overnight flight and the seat to seat chat seems a bit on the creepy side.

Stayed in Brooklyn’s Park Slope with Mark – college friend of D’s – and his ladyfriend Sophia. I’d never spent time in Brooklyn before, and really dug it. Their fold-out couch was the most comfortable of its kind.
Our first day was spent aggressively caffeinating and walking around MOMA, which happened by pure coincidence to have a huge exhibit of Lucian Freud’s etchings. I squealed gleefully. Squealing took a lot out of me so I took a hobo nap at the museum cafe while D sketched me on his DS Lite. After, we had coffee and explored the design exhibit. I bought a tiny disposable Lomo camera with a blue filter at the museum shop.
In the evening there was excellent Greek food at a place called “Snack Taverna“.
The following morning Daniel and I had breakfast at a place called Dizzy’s and headed to Manhattan. There, we conquered Uniqlo, which we’d taken a liking to in Japan, and two H&M locations.
The above photo was taken in the lobby of the Empire State Building. In an attempt to do something tourism-related we cabbed over there, but ultimately refused to spend $20 on the observation deck. We’ve been to the top of the leaning tower of Pisa, bastards. For free.
After contributing to the economy again via pizza slice, we met with Marc and Sophia for oyster happy hour at Lure – a swanky “fishbar” in SoHo. I changed into a night look in the bathroom, drawing more than a few glances of disapproval and confusion [was it the giant red can of hairspray?] then it was off to Molly Crabapple’s Demimonde opening.

After a slightly unnerving elevator ride to the 7th floor we found Arena Studios – a great gallery space with an adjoined dungeon. There, a Doctor Sketchy’s session was being held. The reception was fun and absolutely packed. As always, it was a pleasure to see Molly and her art.
Just as we were about to leave for the Pussycat Lounge, we met a gentleman named Michael Mararian. He was kind enough to not only gift me with a marshmallow hamburger, but also to lead us to Heath Ledger’s apartment which happened to be on the way to the subway.
I just saw something moving in the corner of my bedroom – this be my sleep-queue. More next time, peeps.
Wow, great pictures. That dungeon is gorgeous!
The only time I’ve been on Virgin was for an international flight, and I thought it was shit! The seats were tiny! They made so much space for first class that al the rest of us were like cattle. Don’t know, but it was the worst, most uncomfortable flight I had ever been on.
Maybe domestic is better.
So much awesome – let’s go back tomorrow.
