This is an especially uncharacteristic Style Dispatch, inspired by the blue rainbow hair I had back in October – which is the chief reason I bought this incredible dress. I just couldn’t resist the Rorschach snakeskin pattern, the kaleidoscopic color combination, and the sheer back panel. And if one is going to wear color, one might as well wear color! Amelia was in town from the UK and we were long-overdue for a photo expedition.
We set out with photographer Cris Dobbins and assistant extraordinaire, Yume, to commemorate the visit and capture some shots that were unmistakably LA. Downtown was the obvious choice, though whether my shoes were the obvious choice for long walks and climbing bridges remains undecided. Scroll for the rest of the images and outfit breakdowns!

Your hairrrr!! <3
The colors are making me salivate!! YUM!
pink eyeshadow looks sick against your hair color. nicely done!
Odd question: but, how did you feel?
Any time I try to wear anything other than black, various shades of gray, or olive drab, I feel awkward. I always feel rather confident when I venture out in above said colors… however, I feel like any other color (especially bright) calls negative attention to me.
Oh, and completely head-over-heels with your hair and makeup in this. Sugarpill, I’m assuming?
LOVE that last photo your faces. So beautiful.
You girls are stunning and your make-up is perfection xoxo
Glad you guys are diggin’ the color madness!
Ivonne – thanks! I loooove pink eye make-up with blue hair, in general.
Jayne, I felt a little like I was wearing a costume, but it felt great! I love playing dress-up. My makeup is Sugarpill and Mac, Amelia’s is Illamasqua.
Mariah, thank you! The retoucher took out my eyebrow scars, but it’s kind of fun to see what I’d look like without them ;)
Cate, thank you!
Wonderful and refreshing!
I only just realized how different you look without your glasses on. :o
Always lovely with or without them though. It was just a curious observation that had struck me.
So much color! That dress is cool thou, I think I would have been tempted even though I’d have nothing to wear it with. I ‘ve never been able to get beyond 1 really bright color at a time, which tends to mean that the only time I wear much other than black and grey is when my hair is black. I have tried to get over it from time to time but always end up with a bag full of non-black clothes for Goodwill a year later :p
Also – were you by chance at Disko.Nekro at the Dragonfly this past weekend?
those shoes are stellar~
…and makeup ideas, hey now!
That blue hair is amazing! I just undercut the sides of mine, and I’ve wanted to dye it a pretty teal shade for years — but never have!
This is so darling! And, also, so incredibly strange to see you so full of hues.
WHEEEEEEE!!!!!!! Fun!
heh heh…Hunger Games
I really love your blog as it is such an amazing mixture of makeup, photography, design and life. Well done! : )
You both look *amazing*, but I’m specially smitten by your dress and perfect black pout. Great styling!
Zo – Where did you get your ear adornments? p.s. love all the colors!!!
very gregg araki, love it!
