Colder days are here in SoCal, which means 60s and 70s F, which also means it’s safe to dust off hats, sweaters and my beloved arsenal of arm-warmers. This might sound hilarious to those of you living in four-season climates, but believe me, after ten years in LA you’d be spending your “winter” days wrapped up Eskimo-style, too.
Or close to it. No jacket here, because this was a warmer day! And so:
COMPONENTS
- Knit hat – mine is from a random Koreatown shop
- Cowl neck sweater – mine is H&M, last fall. The cowl is a hood.
- Faux leather leggings – I think mine are F21
- Knit fingerless gloves – Mine are from SockDreams.com
- Combat boots – A’s boots I borrow sometimes
- Studded bag – mine is Zara
- Extra-long striped scarf – mine is from Tokyo
These vintage military boots actually belong to A and are a little too big, but I love them anyway because they make me think of Chaplin.
I’ve been wearing pieces of chain in my gauged ear piercings, because I like the look of long earrings, but hate the weight. This is a light, cheap alternative.
The vintage silver necklace wrapped around my writ is one of my favorite pieces of jewelry to date. It was a gift, and is made of hundreds of chain loops wound together.

I love your boots, and your haircut..
I hope you don’t mind, but I want the same haircut…
I really want it! Maybe some day…
Do you mind?
That cowl neck sweater is amazing. Looking gorgeous as ever Zo.
When you do buy gagued earrings, where’s your favorite place to buy them from?
Your makeup is absolutely gorgeous!
Mmmmm….you’ve left me with an easy decision. Either buy the boots or go insane and set fire to small children. Well, I know what I’M getting for Christmas!
Holy shit I have that same bag and same(almost) boots and I wear them kinda similar except I can’t really pull a gray outfit like you. Wow I can really identify myself with this outfit. Keep rocking ;)
About a year ago, you inspired me to give into my undying yearn to wear dark, monochromatic clothes no matter what time of the year (then again, it may be easier since I don’t live in Arizona anymore), and I LOVE and appreciate that you do the Style Dispatches. I don’t like to copy but the posts, and especially this one, give me inspiration to venture out and try new layers and looks. I suppose it goes unsaid that I love this outfit.
Your hair is so whiiite! but you probably get it done somewhere cool… I can only get blondish, if lucky.
I love it!
Oh, I need boots, too. I live in S. FL and this week the temperature has lowered to the high 30’s! But the following week is forecasted to be in the 60’s and 70’s.
I’m going to try the chains in my gauged ears, too because I have the same dilemma as you. It’s a great idea.
I def love this outfit! It’s been about 40ish in South Florida, so I’ve been wearing furry hats and wraps to a great extent!
Thank you, everyone!
L Dub – I haven’t bought a new pair in AGES. Usually I just stick random items in my earholes, like pipe clamps and chainbits.
Sydney, your path is clear!
Hannah, that’s awesome to hear.
Doloresestefania, I do my own color and cut, 98% of the time.
60-70 F =COLD? (Or even 40s, for that matter?!) Here, its about 20 and dropping. Soon, we’ll see -3os…And there’s no fashionable way to dress for it, either!! :o)
sending some virtual snow and cold over to SoCal, we’ve got plenty of it here on the ol’ continent!
speaking of clothes, what about your spartan resolution -no clothes purchases for a year? just curious how it turned out ;) and like the French say: chapeau bas
Pieces of chain? Hmmm, what an excellent, simple idea. Looks great.
Love that last picture. I wonder what it’s like to be that beautiful!
I love your style posts and your makeup tutorials! Your fashion sense is rather close to my own (though I also have a thousand T-shirts of various bands, movies, etc.) and it’s definitely a source of inspiration (re: stealing, I’ll own it).
Also, I’m madly jealous of your skin and those amazing glasses. I have black plastic frames (with little blingies on the sides!) and some red metal and plastic frames but I would just LOVE a clear plastic pair, too!
P.S. Your hair is so cute! I wish I could wear short hair without 1) it going everywhere cos it’s growing in curly now and 2) looking rather… mannish. It’s quick to dry and everything but if I don’t start from the ground up and wash it I can’t do anything with it.
Where do you get your gauged earrings from? I have a deep love for spiral gauges, and I love the large hoops you have, but I cannot find larger gauged hoops anywhere.
Hey,
I adore your frames. What brand are they, and where did u get them?
Hey Satanne, check out this link for answers!
@China- Try websites like bodyartforms.com or kolopiercing.net. They have tons of cool stuff and their customer service is really great.
What did you use to do the “snow white” hair. Love it!
