I’m delighted to announce that I’m the cover model -and cover story- of Auxiliary Magazine Issue 34! Get yourself a copy to see new, previously-unreleased work and read the very first interview about my Alien Botany art series and fashion line, as well as just about everything else. From style, SciFi and the art world, to living the cosmonomad life, working in multiple mediums and finding balance, this in-depth interview has it all! And I had a lot of fun with it, as evidenced by ending up at over 2,000 words (!).

In addition to the interview, I conceived, styled and art-directed the accompanying editorial. It’s a slightly surreal play on the “Day in the Life” concept, created using only what’s immediately available to me in Ireland, in the spirit of my drastically pared down move here. Having an exceptionally short amount of time to get all this done was another layer of the challenge cake, but we rallied and ended up with four looks:

  • Anime Space Rat – a Very Neon Breakfast
  • Cosmic Art Ninja – rough-terrain expedition in search of inspiration for my intergalactic-naturalist drawings
  • Street-Fashion-plate in a foreign land – an evening of failing to blend in
  • Strange Creature – midnight metamorphosis by a lake (the cover image above is from this set)

Each look was created using my own wardrobe, hair and makeup, and shot by Dave Kavanagh in Dublin and its outskirts. Did we pull it off? Pick up Auxiliary Issue 34 and let me know what you think!

Until the Future,
